Seven goals cap Stars effort in dramatic game
The Stars were cruising to a comfortable victory before the floodlights in the stadium failed to respond.Power was restored after a while before the game was continued.
In the game itself, the Black Stars showed absolute tenacity and purpose against the Crocodiles of Lesotho when they sneaked seven goals past their hapless opponents.
A goal in the 16th minute from captain of the side Sulley Muntari set the Black Stars off to a memorable game. Sulley Muntari picked the ball from the right of attack after a short free kick and without any hesitation, swiped the ball past Lesotho keeper, Kholuoe.
Dominic Adiyiah who played from the right side of attack got the second of the goals eight minutes after the first goal.
After much exchanges and absolute dominance in the game, the Black Stars made sure that they ended the first half with more than the two scored earlier and so on the stroke of half time, Olympic Marseille attacker, Jordan Ayew got the third of the goals when he kept his cool in the 18 area of the Lesotho defense.
Back from recess, it was business as usual as Adiyiah grabbed his second in the game and the team’s fourth with a delightful deft left foot.
The game was held for close to thirty minutes after the fourth goal before it was resumed.
Jordan Ayew grabbed his second of the game, Christian Atsu came from the bench to get his first goal for the Stars on his debut while Jerry Akamenko scored the other as the Stars beat Lesotho by seven goals to nil.
The Black Stars jet off to South Africa to prepare for their next game against African Champions, Zambia in their next game in the qualifying series.
