Woman Plans $200,000 Wedding for Her Dog
ncorporating your dog into your wedding is one thing, but orchestrating a Big Day for your dog is quite another.
But that’s exactly what animal rescue advocate Wendy Diamond is doing for her recently adopted Coton de Tulear, Baby Hope. Diamond is planning the estimated $200,000 nuptials down to the last lavish detail — including a designer gown from Kleinfeld — in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Most Expensive Wedding for Animals on July 12 in New York City. (The current record is $32,000, according to the New York Observer.)
There is, however, one crucial aspect of the wedding that Diamond still needs: a “groom.” She’s asking interested dog-owners to submit prospective canines for consideration via Facebook. (A winner will be chosen on July 2.)
While the idea of a pet wedding (not to mention a dog saying “yes” to the dress) might seem a bit absurd, Diamond’s event more than a ploy for the Guinness title — in fact, all of the goods and services for the nuptials have been donated by vendors and others.
Since 1999, Diamond has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for animal welfare and she expects Baby Hope’s wedding to generate $50,000 through donations and the cost of tickets to the event. The proceeds will benefit The Humane Society, as well as canine cancer, a cause that’s close to Diamond’s heart. Her beloved dog, Lucky, the icon of her philanthropic work and, most notably, the only civilian dog to be admitted into the United Nations, passed away from the disease on June 6.

Nigerian Lady, Chibundu Onuzo (21) Emerges UK’s No.1 Best Black student of 2012
Since 2010, Chibundu Onuzo has captured the world’s consciousness for accomplishing feat after feat. At only age 19, while still an undergraduate student at King’s College London, she made headlines globally by signing a two novel deal with U.K. publishing heavy weight, Faber & Faber which has published books by 12 Nobel Laureates and 6 Man Booker prizewinners. By clinching the deal, she became the prestigious publisher’s youngest ever female author. CNN did an extensive profile on her inspiring achievements as its way of joining in celebrating Nigeria’s then 50th year of independence.
“I wrote the book in my last year at school,” Onuzo told CNN. “I’ve been writing since I was 10, but this was the first novel I finished, so it was very liberating to be able to write ‘The End.’”
According to CNN, Chibundu found an agent before she had even finished writing, and sealed the book deal on her first meeting with a publisher.
Chibundu started writing novels at age 10. She grew up in Lagos, Nigeria and attended Corona Gbagada and Atlantic Hall Secondary School. She thereafter attended St. Swithuns, a school in Winchester and after that attended King’s College, London.
She grew up reading English classics like Jane Eyre and David Copperfield but also African titles by Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Adichie Ngozi.
Two years after signing her book deal with Faber and Faber, she recently published her book, “The Spider King’s Daughter.” The book has already started garnering critical acclaim including being longlisted for the the £10,000 Desmond Elliott Prize for debut novelists alongside a Booker prize-nominated Oxford professor.
And yet another feather was added to her long list of achievements. In June this year, Chibundu was voted the UK’s No.1 Best Black student of 2012.
She was given the accolade by a panel of leading black Britons at a glittering ceremony at the Houses of Parliament on Thursday 7th June 2012, in front of an invited audience of MPs, senior business heads, family members, friends and press. The award was given by Rare Rising Stars. By winning the award, she also became the first woman to come out tops in the list of the U.K.’s Best Black Students

The woman was said to have raised an alarm which attracted neighbours and passers-by.
Speaking with Crimewatch the woman said, “Must I be monitoring my daughter or be afraid when my daughter is with her father? One of our tenants once told me that the closeness of my husband and our daughter was suspicious.
I got annoyed and told the woman that she was talking nonsense but within me I thought it is not possible until I caught them in the act.
I am going to move out of this house with my daughter because it is a taboo, and in the future people will tell the story even to the person who may want to marry her”.
When Crimewatch confronted the man, he pleaded that he should be forgiven, claiming that it was the handiwork of the devil. The girl wept profusely and refused to speak when Crimewatch sought to hear her side of the story.”

Residents have called on the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon

The call for urgent action followed last week’s attack on dozens of children around the Mile 4 area of Port Harcourt, by a lunatic in the area.
The pupils, who were returning from school, were attacked Port Harcourt and adjoining towns have almost doubled within the last six months.
Consequently, residents of the Garden City and a psychiatric doctor, who spoke with our reporter yesterday, called for action, adding that most of the lunatics are not beyond redemption.
They charged the State government to take decisive steps to curb the trend in the interest of the State’s tourism potentials.

“There are tendencies of psychopathy and psychosis on every individual, especially in our society where people work to displease their body system coupled with so many family and life challenges. Dr. Ngor remarked that nobody is born mad, adding that mentally challenge women “in many cases delivers sound and healthy babies. So people should not fold their hands and watch them die with madness.

A Swedish woman says she had to fly overnight from Europe to Tanzania next to a man who died after the plane had departed.
Lena Pettersson, a reporter for Sveriges Radio, said the man was having convulsions before the Kenya Airways flight departed from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The plane took off anyway, The Local.se reported Sunday.
He died several hours later while the plane was in the air.
Pettersson said she then had to sit across from the dead man for the rest of the flight. “Of course it was unpleasant, but I am not a person who makes a fuss,” Pettersson told the Expressen newspaper.
She later decided, however, to seek compensation. It took a couple of months of e-mails but she was finally refunded $713 — about half of the cost of her ticket, Sveriges Radio said.

This evening, Prezzo told Keitta he is done with Goldie.
It looks like the last fight Goldie and Prezzo has done more damage to their relationship than previously thought. Prezzo confided in his new best friend Keitta and told him what he had with Goldie is a thing of the past. “I’m not even eating the food she cooks from now on. I can make eggs. I am done. Watch this space. It’s time to bring the old Prezzo back,” he said.
When Goldie’s songs were played, Prezzo asked Big Brother to play real music. “This chick is a weirdo and I found myself caught up in the mix,” he said. This morning, Prezzo’s tender side came out to play as he reconnected with Goldie. Tonight, it looks like another story altogether.

Naughty and raunchy text messages are an integral part of every relationship.
We’ve all been there, and we’ve all sent it to a special someone.
But have you ever felt awkward to start a naughty conversation through text messages?
Or at another time, did your mind ever go blank when your partner asked you to say something sexy in a text?
Well, worry no more.
Sending a sexy text to a sexy someone should come naturally. You can say anything you feel like, and as long as you feel horny, chances are, you’ll say all the right things.
Things to know before texting sex
You can always text a naughty line like “I want you now… come on and f**k me!” It works and sends the message straight through. But it comes with a major flaw.
When you make a sexy text sound too explicit or say a sexy line without hiding any meaning, your text loses its sensual appeal. It’s too direct and as exciting as it seems, it’s still boring because you leave nothing to surprise. Your partner may read it, smile and just play along with your mood.
Let’s face it, shocking sexual sentences don’t always work. They’re fun, but they cut the suspense and go straight to the end. And in a realistic world, how many times can you ask your lover to leave everything and *come and get you*!
If you want to enjoy a sexy text conversation, you need to involve your partner. You need to excite them slowly and you need to make them feel like they’re a part of the sexual buildup.
And the best way to start a sexy text conversation is by starting slow and easy, and playing with the sentences to turn the person on one step at a time.

A court has banned sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in the US while it decides on the firm’s patent dispute with Apple.
Apple has claimed that Samsung infringed its design patent and copied the look of its popular device, the iPad.
The Samsung tablet is considered by most analysts as the biggest rival to Apple’s iPad.
The ban does not apply to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 II, the tablet’s new edition.
The trial for the case is scheduled to begin in California on 30 July.
“Although Samsung has a right to compete, it does not have a right to compete unfairly, by flooding the market with infringing products,” said US District Judge Lucy Koh.
In an emailed statement to the BBC, Samsung said that it “will take necessary legal steps” and that the ruling was unlikely to have a significant impact on its business.

A legislation that would check indiscriminate procreation may be
in the offing as President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, gave indication
that government was considering the option of checking population
explosion.
The President, who spoke at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-appointed Chairman and Commissioners of the National Population Commission at the Presidential Villa, however, admitted that though regulating the country’s population through legislation is a very contentious matter, government cannot afford to remain aloof while the country’s population grew unchecked.
It would be recalled that the only time there was an attempt by government to control birth in the country was during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida when it was decreed that the maximum birth per woman is four children.
The policy, however, was largely unsuccessful because of widespread opposition against it from different spectrum of the society.
However, reiterating his commitment to the new policy, President Jonathan noted that Nigeria would not be the first country to make laws controlling population and religious belief should not be a tool to frustrate good policy.

In a statement yesterday signed by the church’s spokesperson, Mr.
Ladi Ayodeji, his church said that the decision to break up was
consensual. “The Pastor of our Church, the Household of God, Oregun,
Lagos, Rev Chris Okotie announced his separation from Stephanie his wife
of four years, at the end last Sunday service.
“Both parties arrived at this decision after careful review of the prevailing circumstances which pointed to the fact that it is the best option for them at this time. They also agreed not to divulge details of this incident for personal reasons.
“Rev Okotie thanked concerned friends and well-wishers and asked for understanding. He also expressed the hope that their decision would be respected as no further details would be given on this issue,” Ayodeji said.

When a convicted murderer learned his fate from a judge, he couldn’t help but laugh.
According to the Twin Cities’ Pioneer Press, Adrian Flowers laughed hysterically as a judge handed down his 8-1/2-year prison term.
And it wasn’t the first time. “He comes here, laughing all the time, like nothing happened,” said Jeanine Galtney, the mother of Dekota, Flowers’ victim.
Flowers, 22, was charged with fatally shooting Galtney, 24, in St. Paul in December 2011 after an argument, according to KARE 11. In April, the Minnesotan submitted an Alford plea to the court, the Pioneer Press reported at the time.
An Alford plea is not an admission of guilt. Rather, it signifies an understanding that the state has enough evidence to likely convict an individual at trial, according to Cornell University Law School.
Flowers’ family members denied that their relative acted insensitively during the sentencing. They told reporters that Flowers is deaf in one ear and has hearing loss in the other, which he has dealt with since childhood by means of laughter.
They also said that the convict has attention-deficit disorder.
Surprisingly, the Flowers case is not the first time suspects haven’t been able to keep poker faces during their own trials.
Famous acquitted mom Casey Anthony was caught on camera laughing and smiling during the jury selection of her trial for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, Radar Online reported. I’m 44, and divorced. He’s 29 and my daughter is 22.
She met him at the gym and they started seeing each other six months ago. She’s really keen but he’s been blowing hot and cold so I’ve had to listen to her woes a lot.
My daughter and I went for a drink before going to the cinema a couple of weeks ago, and her boyfriend happened to be meeting a friend at the bar. I’d not met him before and I was blown away. He’s so good-looking and toned. His eyes lit up and I could tell he was interested.
My daughter goes away with her job a lot. The next time she was away, there was a knock on the door and it was her boyfriend.
I invited him in and we opened a bottle of wine. We talked and watched a DVD. I realised how much I fancied him but I kept telling myself he was my daughter’s man.
It got very late and he said he should go, but when we stood up he grabbed me and kissed me.
We ended upstairs having the most wonderful sex. He said he’d like to see more of me but wouldn’t cheat on my daughter, so it’s up to me to decide what to do.
We have seen each other secretly a couple of times when my daughter’s not around and it is as passionate as ever, but I’m so scared of telling my daughter and family.
I have a problem with the age gap, though he doesn’t. I’m worried it won’t last and then my daughter and family will hate me for nothing.
Is this just lust or is there any future in this relationship?

Zimbabwean Big Brother Stargame housemate Maneta Mazanhi, who sneaked into the country from South Africa last Friday, opened up yesterday and described her relationship with Rockford “Roki” Josphats as “cordial”.
The 21-year-old Bulawayo-born young lady and the popular urban groover Roki were booted out of the 91-day reality show after a sensational altercation that shattered their dreams of landing the US$300 000 up for grabs.
Maneta told The Herald that she regarded Roki as a brother not a competitor.
“As far as I know you cannot treat everyone in the house the same and I loved Roki like a brother to me and I wouldn’t say I hated him but the relationship was cordial and I appreciated him as a counterpart. We were both representing Zimbabwe and we spoke the same language,” she said.
On why they bickered and bad-mouthed each other while in the house, Maneta said it was normal for people who live in a confined area to argue.
“That is common when people are living in a confined area and there is so much pressure that comes with it. At times things would get out of hand not because that is what you want but because at the time that was the right thing to do,” she said.
Maneta said when she got into the house she didn’t have a strategy and just lived for the day, a situation that probably could have made her stay in the house difficult.
“Well, whatever you saw in the house was real that was me and because Big Brother is a game I would change the strategy as I go in other words, I didn’t have any strategy because I took each day as it came,” she said. Asked how she would fare in the game if she were to be given another chance, Maneta said she would probably stay longer and possibly win the prize.
“Of course, I would love to go back into the house and I would do more to market Zimbabwe,” she said. She, ironically, had no kind words for her country in the house. She, however, apologised to Zimbabweans for her poor showing.
“I would like to say I went into the house first as Maneta and as a Zimbabwean representing my country. I am sorry to Roki and the nation at large. I am not a bad person, but it is up to people to see me differently because they are entitled to their opinions,” she said.
Although Big Brother Africa fans, expected the two housemates to arrive on the same day, Maneta arrived a day later following a request by her family, who feared a serious backlash from angry fans rooting for Roki.
“I came on Friday aboard South African Airways around 6pm. I was advised that I needed to sneak into the country quietly because people were literally baying for my blood,” she explained.
Maneta said her comments about Zimbabwe and other reports attributed to her were taken out of context.
“The truth is my family felt I was being accused of things that I never said or misquoted. In most cases I would say these things against Roki during arguments.
“I didn’t mean it. In other instances people failed to differentiate between a joke and fact. When I talked about Zimra being corrupt I didn’t mean everyone just like what you see at any institution there are one or two rotten apples.
“I remember when I said Roki was uneducated most people who didn’t hear the whole conversation thought I had said all Zimbabweans are not educated. It is unfortunate that I was misinterpreted and misunderstood in the house,” she said.
Maneta denied reports that she claimed to be dating Wicknell Chivayo, a Harare businessman.
“I have never heard of Wicknell Chivayo, infact I only got to know about him through the Press. My boyfriend who is Zimbabwean was also shocked to learn about the news,” she said.
Maneta says she will now focus on her studies. “I was studying corporate law with Unisa before going into the house so that’s my next move but I am not sure whether I will be staying in Harare or Bulawayo,” she said.
